Eagles Put Six Past Warriors

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team exploded for six goals as they defeated visiting Lycoming College, 6-2, Wednesday evening at Knox Stadium.

In the ninth minute, Aimee Buffington played in a corner from the right side, and Colleen Creneti beat the keeper with a shot in the lower left corner.

Less than a minute later, Sydney Witter dribbled in and played a ball towards Tess Ledeboer in a crowd of people in front of goal. Ledeboer redirected the ball through the crowd and into the cage to double the Eagle lead.

Jane Corbin got to a loose ball in the 12th minute inside the Lycoming circle and smacked it into the left corner as the Eagles led 3-0 after one.

Buffington added her name to the growing goal scorers list with a penalty stroke with three minutes to go in the half.

Witter was first to a loose ball right in front of the cage and tapped it in as the Eagles led 5-0 heading into the half.

Juniata held a 12-0 lead in shots in the first half.

Witter provided her second assist of the evening early in the fourth quarter as she set up Mallory Prince early in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors got two goals back in the final three minutes to complete the scoring.

Juniata returns to action this Saturday on the road as they travel to take on the University of Scranton at 1:00.
