Eagles Put Six Past Presidents

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team exploded for six goals as they dominated visiting Washington and Jefferson, 6-1, Wednesday evening at Knox Stadium.

Fifty-two seconds into the game, Colleen Creneti played a ball in that ricocheted off an off Sydney Witter's stick right to Brooke Franke who smacked it home to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.

In the final 33 seconds of the first, Creneti took a pass off a corner from Aimee Buffington, and played it to Kaylyn Walters who smashed it into the cage to double the Eagle lead.

The only goal in the second quarter for Juniata came via corner as well. Creneti received the ball and fired it at the goal. Witter took a stab at the ball and it went through the W and J keeper's legs to make it 3-0.

Juniata held a 6-1 lead in shots at the break and a 6-0 edge in penalty corners.

Early in the third quarter, Witter dribbled around near the goal before hitting a ball towards the back post that Caitlin Steffie poked in.

A few minutes later, Creneti dribbled down the right wing and played the ball across the middle to Witter who slotted it into the left corner to make it 5-0.

Buffington scored the final goal of the game early in the fourth when she pushed the ball just over the goal line, the W & J tried to clear it off the line but the ref signaled for the sixth goal of the game for Juniata.

The visitors got one back in the final 10 minutes of the game to complete the scoring.

Juniata will take on Drew in Landmark Conference action at home Saturday at 12:00.
