Bishops Bounce Past Eagles

Bishops Bounce Past Eagles

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Junita field hockey team got one back midway through the fourth but couldn't find an equalizer in their home opener against visiting Ohio Wesleyan, Friday evening at Knox Stadium.

The Bishops found a goal two minutes into the game, scoring on a scrum in front of the Eagle cage.

Brooke Franke drew a save from the Ohio Wesleyan keeper with three minutes to go in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the visitors tacked on a second with seven minutes to go as they took a 2-0 lead into the break.

Ohio Wesleyan had an 8-1 advantage in corners in the first half.

The third quarter was relatively low action as Ohio Wesleyan held a 3-0 edge in shots, with Brittney McMullen  coming in and making her lone save in the game.

Midway through the fourth, Sydney Witter got on the scoresheet as she slapped a loose ball past the diving Ohio Wesleyan keeper. The Eagles kept up the pressure and dominated the ball, not allowing the Bishops a chance to shoot. Juniata couldn't find an opening to tie as they ultimately fell 2-1.

Juniata will return to action tomorrow at home against Allegheny at 2:00.
