Phoenix Narrowly Edge Eagles

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team lost a narrow 1-0 game on the road at Wilson Sunday afternoon at the Wilson Hockey Field.

Juniata was on the front foot early in the game as they had their only two penalty corners of the game inside the first five minutes of the game. Kalee Rothermel got a shot on goal off the first penalty corner, but the Wilson goalie managed to stop the shot. Brittney McMullen was called upon to make three saves to keep the game scoreless after the first quarter.

Wilson managed four shots across the second and third quarters while holding Juniata to zero of their own; none of their shots were on frame as the game remained scoreless through most of the third quarter.

With a minute and a half to go in the third, Wilson found the back of the cage to take a 1-0 lead in the fourth.

Juniata had a few chances in the game's final minutes, with a shot from Miranda Madara being blocked and another from Alex Rosser going wide. But the Eagles couldn't find an equalizer as Wilson escaped with a 1-0 victory.

Juniata will honor their seniors on Senior Day next Saturday against Scranton at 1:00.
