Piccioni Named Landmark Defensive Player of the Year, Four Named to All-Conference Team

TOWSON, Md.- The Juniata field hockey team had four players make the Landmark All-Conference team while Nicole Piccioni  (Richfield, Pa. / Midd-West) was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Madison Miller (York, Pa. / West York) and Piccioni were named to the first team while Catherine Lanigan (Parsippany, N.J. / Parsippany HS) and Grace Kuszmaul (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) were named to the second team. 

Piccioni was named to the all-conference first team and started in all 18 games this season, recording three shutouts. She tallied 88 saves with a .765 save percentage. Piccioni also was named Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week three times this season. 

Miller was named to the all-conference first team as a midfielder. She started in all 18 games this season as she tallied her first career goal against Goucher (10/12). Miller also added two assists on the season. 

Lanigan was named to the all-conference second team as a forward. She started in all 18 games this season while being the teams leading scorer tallying nine goals and adding three assists. Lanigan totaled 35 shots with 26 on goal. Lanigan also scored four game-winning goals. She was also named Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week this season. 

Kuszmaul was named to the all-conference second team as a defender. She started in 17 games and added a goal and an assist this season. Kuszmaul led the team with five defensive saves and went 1-1 on penalty strokes. She also tallied the game-winning goal against Eastern Mennonite (9/14).
