Spartans Stifle Eagles

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to York College, Wednesday evening at Knox Stadium.

York got on the board first as they scored three minutes into the first quarter. In the 11th minute, Catherine Lanigan. (Parsippany, N.J. / Parsippany HS) took the Eagles first shot of the game. Lanigan shot from the middle but it was stopped by the Spartan goalie. In the second quarter, Grace Woolway (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) shot from the right side but it was saved by the York goalie. 

York kept their momentum in the third quarter as they scored two minutes into the quarter. In the 36th minute the Eagles were awarded a corner. Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) put in the corner to Sarah Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) who took the shot but it went wide. In the 43rd minute, the Spartans scored their third goal of the game to lead, 3-0. In the 57th minute, Juniata got on the board as G. Alexander shot from the right side putting the ball into the bottom left side of the goal. 

Juniata held a 12-9 edge in shots over York and an 11-5 advantage in corners. 

The Eagles travel to Elizabethtown for a conference game this Saturday starting at 1:00 pm.
