Eagles Advance to ECAC Semifinals

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team defeated Widener, 2-0 and will advance to the semifinal round of the ECAC championship.

Lindsay Scholten (Holly Springs, N.C. / Brookfield) and Olivia Marker (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) each tallied a goal for the Eagles while Grace Kuszmaul (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) added both assists. 

With three minutes left in the first half, Scholten recorded Juniata's first goal of the game. After a corner, Kuszmaul passed the ball from the left side to Scholten. From the fifteen, Scholten slid the ball past the Widener goalie from the right side into the left side of the cage. 

In the second half, the Pride held onto the ball for a majority of the second half but in the 58th minute, the Eagles managed to get the ball down the field for Juniata's winning goal. After a corner, Kuszmaul passed the ball from the left side to Marker. Marker then, put the ball into the left side of the goal. 

Juniata out shot Widener, 9-4 and held an edge in corners 5-4. 

Juniata will travel to number one seeded, Stockton, Saturday November 10th for the ECAC semifinal. Game time is at 11:00 am.
