Eagles Blank Rangers to Stay Alive in Playoff Hunt

MADISON, N.J.- The Juniata field hockey team defeated Drew University on the road in conference play, Saturday afternoon.

Sara Mills (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe), Rebecca Waite (Landenberg, Pa. / Avon Grove), Olivia Marker (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS), and Catherine Zvorsky (New Cumberland, Pa. / Cedar Cliff H.S.) each tallied a goal in the Eagles, 4-0 win over Drew. Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) added two assists while Mills, and Marker each added one. Zvorsky and Mills each recorded their first career goal. 

The Eagles started strong scoring two goals in the first 12 minutes of the game. Alexander assisted Mills with a pass from the top. Waite scored the second goal for Juniata with another assist from Alexander. Waite's shot went high from the left into the upper right corner of the cage. With seven minutes left in the first half, Marker scored JC's third goal with a pass from Mills. 

Juniata got off to a quick start in the second half as they scored their final goal just two minutes into the half. Marker assisted Zvorsky from the left post with a cross from the right. Drew attempted to get on the board by taking six shots in two minutes but all were saved by Juniata goalie, Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa. / Danville).

Edwards recorded seven saves in goal. 

Juniata held a 15-12 edge in shots. 

Juniata travels to Washington & Jefferson, October 24th for a non-conference match starting at 7:00 PM.
