Eagles Down Red Devils, 2-1

Sarah Alexander and Olivia Marker each scored a goal for Juniata in their win over Dickinson.

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team defeated Dickinson College, 2-1 on a chilly Wednesday evening.

Olivia Marker (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) and Sarah Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) each scored once while Marker and Lindsay Scholten (Holly Springs, N.C. / Brookfield) each tallied an assist. 

The Eagles opened up the game strong as they scored in the first minute. Marker's shot came from the center to score Juniata's first goal of the game. For the rest of the half, JC took eight more shots but the Dickinson goalie put up a fight, making five saves. 

Dickinson got on the board in the 42nd minute to tie up the game. The Red Devils shot from the left side and the ball slid past the JC goalie into the right side of the cage. In the 61st minute, after a penalty corner, the Eagles scored the game winning goal. Marker passed the ball to Scholten and she passed it to Alexander from the right side to score the game winner. 

Juniata out shot Dickinson, 16-2 and held an edge in corners, 8-4. 

Juniata travels to Drew this Saturday for a conference game starting at 1:00 PM.
