HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team fell, 1-0, against Catholic on a chilly fall afternoon.
Catholic scored the game winning goal in the 25th minute of the first half, and both teams were scoreless in the second half. Early in the second half, Meredith Shephard (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) took a shot after a penalty corner, but it was blocked. In the 57th minute, the Eagles had another chance to tie up the game. Sarah Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) had an open lane to the goal but her shot was saved by the Cardinal goalie. For a majority of the game, it was a battle of tough defense for the two teams.
Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa. / Danville) totaled three saves in the goal.
Catholic held an edge in shots, 5-4, while Juniata held an edge in penalty corners, 4-2.
The Eagles return home on Wednesday, October 17th at 7:00PM.
