Eagles Fall, 1-0, to Blue Jays

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team fell, 1-0 to Elizabethtown, Saturday evening.

The Blue Jays got the lone goal of the game early in the seventh minute of the first half after a penalty corner. In the 12th minute, Sarah Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) put in a penalty corner, then passed the ball to Lindsay Scholten (Holly Springs, N.C. / Brookfield) who took a shot but it was wide. Twelve minutes later, after another Eagle corner, Scholten attempted another goal, but it was saved by a Blue Jay player. 

Juniata held the ball throughout the second half only allowing Elizabethtown one shot. Within the first ten minutes of the second half, the Eagles took five corners but had no luck in getting the ball in the cage. After a Juniata timeout in the 52nd minute, the Eagles had yet another chance at a goal. After an Eagle corner, a shot was taken by Rebecca Waite (Landenberg, Pa. / Avon Grove), but it was saved by the Elizabethtown goalie. 

Juniata held a 10-5 edge in shots and also held a 11-4 edge in penalty corners. 

The Eagles will travel to Goucher on Saturday, October 6th to play at 1:00PM.
