Olivia Marker Nets Hat Trick as Eagles Cruise Past Bobcats

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team pushed past Frostburg, 4-1, Wednesday evening.

Olivia Marker (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area HS) scored three goals while Rebecca Waite (Landinberg, Pa. / Avon Grove) tallied one. Meredith Shephard (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia), Lindsay Scholten (Holly Springs, N.C. / Brookfield), and Grace Woolway (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) each tallied one assist. 

Juniata got an early lead eight minutes into the first half. After a shot taken by Shephard and a Frostburg save, Shephard passed the ball to Waite for an Eagle goal. About two minutes later, the Bobcats responded with a goal of their own to tie up the game, 1-1. In the 15th minute, Marker came down the middle for the Eagles second goal of the game. 

The Eagles got off to a strong start in the second half. In the 36th minute, after a corner put in by Sarah Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg), she passed the ball to Scholten who then assisted Marker with a goal from the 20 yard line. In the 52nd minute, after another Juniata corner, Woolway assisted Marker for the final goal of the game. The Eagles dominated the second half as they took nine shot and had seven corners while the Bobcats had zero. 

The Eagles held a 18-2 edge in shots and a 17-0 edge in penalty corners. 

Juniata will host Elizabethtown this Saturday, September 29th at 5:30PM.
