Eagles Stung by Yellow Jackets

MANHEIM, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team fell to No. 11 University of Rochester, 2-0, at Spooky Nook, the home of USA Field Hockey on Saturday.

The teams went scoreless in the first half. After a corner in the 12th minute, Rochester took a shot, but it was stopped by Meredith Shephard (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia). At the end of the first half, the Yellow Jackets took one final try to take the lead as they took another shot off a corner, but it was saved by Grace Kuszmaul (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown). The Eagles took six shots in the first half and had three penalty corners. 

Rochester took a shot in the 52nd minute, but it was denied by Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa. / Danville). The Yellow Jackets scored off a penalty stroke to put them up 1-0 in the second half. Ten minutes later, the Yellow Jackets scored the final goal of the game off a tip in on the right side of the cage. 

Edwards totaled seven saves in the goal for the Eagles. Rochester held the advantage on shots, 21-11 and an edge on corners, 9-5. 

The Eagles will travel to Moravian next Saturday the 22nd to open up conference play at 1:00PM.
