#3 Lions Roar Past Eagles

EWING, N.J.- The Juniata field hockey team dropped their first game of the season against The College of New Jersey, 5-1.

Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) scored the lone goal for the Eagles and Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa. / Danville) totaled six saves during the game. 

In the first half, TCNJ scored three goals. Less than five minutes into the game, the Lions scored off a corner. Four minutes later, the Eagles attempted to tie up the game after a corner but the shot went wide to the left. In the 18th minute, TCNJ scored their second goal of the game. With three minutes left in the first half, the Lions put in their third goal. 

Early in the second half, after three failed shot attempts the Eagles put up their lone goal of the game. Alexander scored the goal for Juniata after collecting a loose ball on the left side of the cage. Three minutes later, TCNJ answered back with another goal after a corner, extending their lead, 4-1. Juniata held on to the ball for the next ten minutes taking four shots. With five minutes left in the game, the Lions score their fifth and final goal of the game to secure the win. 

TCNJ held an edge in shots, 16-9 and a 9-4 edge in corners. 

The Eagles return to action this Tuesday, September 11th at 7:00PM. They will face #1 Messiah at home.
