Eagles Fall to Red Devils in Overtime

CARLISLE, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team fell on the road, 3-2, to Dickinson in overtime Wednesday afternoon.

Meredith Shephard (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) and Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) both scored for the Eagles. Katie Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) and Mina Wilt (Wells Tannery, Pa. / Forbes Road) each tallied one assist. Goalie Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa. / Danville) totaled seven saves during the game.

Five minutes into the first half, Dickinson got the first goal after a penalty corner. About 10 minutes later, Juniata responded with a goal of their own by Shephard, also after a penalty corner. In the 23rd minute, Dickinson retook the lead at 2-1.

In the second half, G. Alexander scored the Eagles second goal of the game to tie it up 2-2. The teams remained locked at 2-2, with overtime needed to provide a winner. The Red Devils controlled the overtime period, with two penalty corners and five shots including the game-winning goal 10 minutes into overtime.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday for conference play. They play home against Moravian at 4:30.
