Field Hockey Drops 3-1 Decision to Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Juniata field hockey team fell to Landmark opponent the University of Scranton, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Field.

Scranton put the pressure on early in the contest, scoring a goal in the second minute of the game after a penalty corner. Juniata answered back not even a minute later when Katie Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) tapped in a goal off an assist from Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg).

The Royals did not keep the score at a draw for long, scoring again in the eighth minute of the game. Rebecca Waite (Landinberg, Pa./Avon Grove) had two shots on goal during the remainder of the first half, but could not find the back of the cage.

Both teams went scoreless throughout the second half until Scranton tapped in another goal in the 67th minute of play to gain a 3-1 lead. The Eagles were unable to recover in the last few minutes of play.

Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa./Danville) recorded four saves. Scranton held an 8-5 advantage in shots and a 9-6 edge in penalty corners.

The Eagles travel to Dickinson on Wednesday to face Dickinson at 3:30pm.
