Eagles Dominate Rangers, 8-0

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- On Saturday, the Juniata field hockey team swept Drew 8-0 in conference play.

Katie Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) scored four goals, Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) scored two goals while Catherine Lanigan (Boonton, N.J. / Parsippany HS) and Mina Wilt (Wells Tannery, Pa. / Forbes Road) each tallied one goal. Sarah Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa. / Mifflinburg) and Grace Kuszmaul (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) each added one assist for the Eagles.

Four minutes into the game, K. Alexander scored the first goal for the Eagles. About three minutes later, G. Alexander scored Juniata's second goal of the game. 

In the 19th minute, K. Alexander scored a spectacular solo goal. She took the ball the length of the field, playing the ball to the right of the defender while running around her, getting the ball back and knocking it by the keeper before tapping it into the cage. Less than a minute later, Lanigan came down on a breakaway and beat the keeper to double the Eagle lead.

At the very beginning of the second half, Wilt got another one in for the Eagles. Three minutes later K. Alexander took a shot, but it was blocked by goalie Joie Slosar. K. Alexander came back for another shot and found the back of the cage. In the 46th minute of the game, K. Alexander tallied another goal and was assisted by Kuszmaul, making the score 8-0.

The Eagles dominated with 22 shots and five penalty corners.

During halftime of the game, the 2007 team that made the Elite Eight was honored. 

The Eagles return to action at home to play against Susquehanna on Wednesday, October 11th at 7:00.
