Katie Alexander Nets Hat Trick as Eagles Dominate Bobcats

FROSTBURG, Md.- The Juniata College field hockey team overpowered Frostburg, 6-0, Wednesday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.

Katie Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) scored three goals while Grace Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg), Megan Martin (Cumberland, R.I./Cumberland) and Rebecca Waite (Landinberg, Pa./Avon Grove) each tallied one goal.  Waite had two assists while Olivia Marker (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) and G. Alexander each had one assist. Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa./Danville) and Sara Deetz (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) teamed up for the shutout. 

Eleven minutes into the contest, Waite slid a pass past the onrushing keeper and K. Alexander finished easily to make it 1-0. Three minutes later, G. Alexander took the ball from the right end line towards goal and fired past the keeper to double the lead. In the 28th minute Martin's first shot was saved by the Frostburg keeper but she stuck with it and put away the rebound to make it 3-0 Juniata.

Waite setup K. Alexander before G. Alexander setup Waite in the opening three minutes of the second half as Juniata's lead ballooned to 5-0. In the final minutes of the game, Marker passed the ball from the right end line to K. Alexander who beat the keeper again to complete her hat-trick.

The Eagles held a 26-6 edge in shots and a 11-2 edge in penalty corners.

Juniata travels to Catholic on Saturday. Game time is 1:00.
