KEUKA, N.Y.- The Juniata field hockey team traveled to New York for a weeknight match with Keuka. The Eagles scored a season-high five goals on their way to a 5-0 win over the Wolves.
For the first time this season, the Eagles did not let their opponent record a shot. Juniata totaled a season-best 29 shots on the night with 15 of those coming at the cage.
Montana Utz (Hanover, Pa./South Western) scored twice for Juniata. Meredith Shephard (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) also had two goals which were the first of her career. Lindsay Scholten (Apex, N.C./Brookfield (Conn.) scored the other goal for JC. Grace Kuszmaul (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) picked up two assists with Rachel Weigel (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) and Rebecca Waite (Landenburg, Pa./Avon Grove) adding one.
Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa./Danville) got the start in goal and played the first half. Santana Mays (Parkton, Md./Hereford) saw 25 minutes in the second half with Jess Gray (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) receiving 10 minutes.
Juniata returns to Landmark play on Saturday as they head to Madison, N.J. to face Drew. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
