DOVER, DE- A day after dropping an overtime loss to Goucher, the Juniata field hockey team traveled to Delaware to take on the Wolverines of Wesley College. Sunday's outcome was much better as the Eagles defeated Wesley by the score of 2-0.

Juniata dominated Wesley early in the first half as the Eagles were able to get off eight shots within the first 8:36 of play. JC broke through three minutes later as Sarah Alexander (Mifflinsburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) gathered a failed clear attempt, pulled to the left corner, and ripped a tight-angle shot past Wesley goalkeeper Sidney Krott and in to put Juniata ahead 1-0. The Eagles held a commanding 14-1 advantage in shots in the first half.

The Eagles continued their attack in the Wesley zone early on in the second half as Lindsay Scholten (Apex, N.C./Brookfield (Conn.)) and Brittany Lafollette (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) both had shots on goal that were turned away. Juniata's defense stepped up as Elise Onjack (Bangor, Pa./Bangor Area) was able to save a Wesley shot in the cage.

JC was able to score once more at 58:38. Rachel Weigel (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) passed from the top of shooting arc to Montana Utz (Hanover, Pa./ South Western) in the middle, 10 yards from goal, and Utz turned and fired past Krott low left into the cage to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

Eagles starting goalkeeper Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa./Danville) faced only one shot on goal and made one save in the game for her first shutout of the season. Krott had 11 saves for the Wolverines.

Juniata had a 21-4 lead in shots for the contest.  Penalty corners favored Wesley, 4-3.

The Eagles return to Huntingdon and host Landmark rival Catholic next Saturday at Knox Stadium. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
