WASHINGTON, Pa.- Juniata traveled west on Tuesday night for a non-conference match with Washington and Jefferson. The Presidents scored once in each half as they went on to defeat the Eagles 2-0.

Juniata was on the attack early on in the opening minutes of the first half. The Eagles had a pair of penalty corners and three shots but could not find the cage. The Presidents struck first at 23:07 when W&J's Rachel Fromm scored from the left side of the goal to put the home team ahead 1-0.

The Eagles had a chance to tie the contest up just before halftime. Sarah Alexander (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) took at penalty corner at 31:40.  She took a shot with President goalkeeper Karlie Baran out of position but Kelsey Bowman was there to deny the potential score. Lindsay Scholten's (Apex, N.C./Brookfield (Conn.)) attempt would be denied by Baran and the half would end with the Presidents ahead 1-0.

In the second half, it was Washington and Jefferson on the attack early on but Juniata goalkeeper Santana Mays (Parkton, Md./Hereford) was there to stop the threat. The Presidents scored their second goal following a penalty corner.

Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa./Danville) got the start and played the first half. She had two saves. Mays made five saves.

The Eagles begin conference play this Saturday when they travel to Towson, Md. to play Goucher. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
