Field Hockey's Bilheimer Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind.- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced their 2016 Academic All-District™ Women's At-Large Teams in Division III on Thursday which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Senior field hockey player Sarah Bilheimer (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) was one of 10 players in Division III in Pennsylvania to be named to the First Team.

 

Bilheimer's POE is Accounting with a minor in Art History. She has been named to the Landmark Honor Roll for the last three years along with being a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad. She was a Dean's List Honoree in 2013 and 2014, inducted into the Tau Phi Society, and was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success in 2014 and 2015.

 

Her extra curricular activities include designing and launching a fundraiser for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization. She has planned and managed fundraising ideas for Relay for Life from 2013-2015. Bilheimer has been a volunteer for Colleges Against Cancer for two years and Special Olympics for four years. She has also been a volunteer with the Student Alumni Association for the last two years. She has organized and supervised Juniata Events such as Senior Dinner, Career Day, and Homecoming.

 

Bilheimer was named a Landmark Senior Scholar-Athlete in December. At the second annual Juniata Athletics Alfies ceremony on May 3, she was presented with the Charles Bargerstock award, which is given to the senior female athlete who has made the greatest contribution to Juniata Athletics.

 

Bilheimer was a steady presence for the Eagles in her four years as a member of the JC field hockey team. She made the Landmark All-Conference team all four seasons, making the Second Team in her freshman and sophomore campaigns, and being chosen to the First Team in 2014 and 2015 along with being named the Offensive Player of the Year this past fall. Bilheimer scored 21 goals, assisted on 10 scores, and totaled 52 points to lead the Landmark in both goals and points and was second in assists.

 

First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
