HUNTINGDON, Pa.- On a dark and rainy night at Knox Stadium, the Juniata field hockey team hosted Washington and Jefferson in a non-conference game. Two first half goals were all that the Eagles needed as they defeated the Presidents 2-0.

Juniata was coming off a big 2-1 victory in overtime against Scranton the previous night. The Eagles were a little tired but did enough to keep the Presidents off the board on the night.

The Eagles received goals from Sarah Bilheimer (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) and Allison Groft (Hanover, Pa/South Western). It was Bilheimer's ninth of goal of the season and the sixth straight game that she has scored.

"Today we definitely saw some senior leadership step up and put a couple goals in," said head coach Caroline Gillich. "Sarah had a beautiful run to goal and finished it off. Senior Alli Groft was set up by freshman Becca Waite (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) which is pretty exciting when you have a freshman be able to do a lot of work and Alli who is seasoned attacker and scorer and somebody can give her the ball in a way that she is able to finish. It has been a lot of fun to watch a freshman and a senior work so well together."

Kylie Edwards (Danville Pa./Danville) and Santana Mays (Parkton, Md./Hereford) shared the shutout in the cage for Juniata. Both goalkeepers had two saves.

The Presidents actually led the Eagles in total shots, 5-3. JC did lead in penalty corners, 6-3.

Juniata returns to conference play next Saturday against Moravian. Game time from Knox Stadium will be at 1 p.m.
