Field Hockey Falls to #1 TCNJ

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team welcomed defending National Champion and current #1 TCNJ on Sunday afternoon. The Lions got out to a 3-0 lead in the first half and held the Eagles to one shot on their way to a 4-0 victory.

 

TCNJ remains undefeated at 3-0. The Eagles fall to 1-3.

 

Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa./Danville) started in the cage for Juniata and played the first half. She had three saves. Santana Mays (Parkton, Md./Hereford) came on in the second half and stopped eight shots. Cory Yerger (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) had one defensive save as did Alex Stroud (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial).

 

The Lions led in shots 12-1 and in penalty corners, 14-1. Juniata's lone shot came in the 20th minute from Brittany Meier (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area).

 
 

The Eagles played a physical game as they were assessed three green cards and one yellow card. The Lions were given one yellow card.

 

Juniata will head on the road for its next three contests starting this Wednesday at #17 Messiah. Game time will be at 6 p.m.
