Field Hockey Selected Second in Landmark Conference Poll

TOWSON, Md.- The 2015 Landmark Conference Women's Field Hockey Preseason Coaches Poll has been announced. Defending conference champion Juniata has been picked second with a total of 44 points in the poll and also received one first place vote.

Catholic was selected first with a tally of 70 points and seven first place votes. The rest of the poll follows with Scranton (40 points), Elizabethtown (36), Susquehanna (23), Goucher (19), Moravian (14), and Drew (10).

Last year, Juniata finished with a record of 15-6 overall and 5-2 in the Landmark as the team advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. The Eagles defeated the Blue Jays and Cardinals in double overtime in the conference playoffs with the latter occurring on the team's only shot of the game as JC prevailed 1-0.

Juniata aims for a title repeat in 2015. With 18 players returning and seven starters coming back, the Eagles are primed to do so. A talented freshman class further strengthens an already strong squad.

The season begins on September 1 when the Eagles travel to Reading, Pa. to face Alvernia. Juniata's home opener will be on September 4 against Bridgewater (Va.).
