Ewing, NJ, After suffering a 1-0 defeat in double overtime at Goucher on Saturday, the Juniata field hockey team traveled to New Jersey earlier today to take on the fourth ranked Lions of TCNJ. The Lions were ranked three spots ahead of the Eagles as the second best team in the region, when the latest poll came out this week.

Juniata held their own against one of the top teams in the country, but were unable to get things going on offense as they were defeated 1-0. The Eagles were blanketed by the Lion defense, and were unable to muster a shot. The Lions had 24 shots in the game, with fourteen on goal. Senior keeper Julianne Jones (Middleburg, PA / Midd-West) has been remarkable all season for the Eagles and she continued her strong play in the cage today, making a career high 13 saves. Unfortunately, the Lions were able to sneak one by her to take the lead and the match.

Juniata is now 11-5 on the season, and 4-2 against conference rivals. The team returns home to conclude its regular season in a Landmark Conference matchup with the Cardinals of Catholic on Senior Day next Saturday. Game time form Knox Stadium is set for 5:00 pm.
