Field Hockey’s Eight Game Winning Streak Comes to an End Against E-town

Huntingdon, Pa., Juniata College's field hockey team saw its winning streak come to a close at Knox earlier today. Despite outshooting their opponent, the Eagles were unable to find the cage.

Juniata had 12 shots on goal, but was unable to tie the game after the Blue Jays scored in the ninth minute.  The Eagles put the ball in the cage, but the referee called it off and awarded Juniata a penalty stroke.

Coach Gllich discussed her teams play after the match, "We had an illness and had to readjust to that. We had to move some players around. In the second half, once we were firing on all cylinders, we really had it going. Selene definitely kept her team in the game today. We had two penalty strokes called for us. She saved them in two different spots we put them. They were beautiful shots. We had 16 shots today, which is really painful. They were doing everything I asked them to do. We have a couple of things to do to make some adjustments so that the next time we face E-town the result, is very different.

The Eagles are now 10-3 and 3-1 in Landmark Conference play. Juniata returns to Knox Stadium November 1st to host Catholic on senior day.
