Washington, Pa. Juniata College field hockey defeated Washington & Jefferson 2-1 in Washington last night to win their fifth game in a row heading into Landmark Conference play. Sarah Bilheimer (Bethlehem, Pa. / Freedom) scored her fourth goal of the season to break a 1-1 just before halftime to give the Eagles the lead.

Juniata scored first when sophomore Elise Onjack (Bangor Pa. / Bangor Area) found the cage for her first goal of the season in the 21st minute of play. The lead did not last long as two minutes later Catherine Beaudoin scored her fifth goal of the season to tie the game at one.

Bilheimer beat the keeper ten minutes later to regain the lead for the Eagles and seal the victory as both offenses would be shutout in the second half. The junior has played well for Juniata this season. Bilheimer leads the team with 6 assists and is tied for second in goals scored.

Shelby Miller (Pottstown, Pa. / Owen J. Roberts) and fellow senior Julianne Jones (Middleburg, Pa. / Midd-West) split the game in the cage and continued to play well. Miller made three saves while allowing the lone goal. Jones made two saves in her 35 minutes of play.

The Eagles are now 7-2 and will host conference opponent Scranton this Saturday. Game time at Knox is scheduled for 1 pm.
