Huntingdon, Pa., Senior goalkeeper Julianne Jones (Middleburg, Pa. / Mid-West) was named the Landmark Conference field hockey defensive player of the week earlier today. Jones has been solid between the pipes for the Eagles. She currently leads the conference in goals against average and save percentage. Jones is currently third in all of Division III with a 0.66 goals against average and first overall in save percentage.

The keeper followed up a career day last Saturday against Scranton, in which she made a personal best 10 saves in an overtime win, with two strong games against Alvernia and Moravian. Jones played the second half against Alvernia after fellow senior Shelby Miller (Pottstown, Pa. / Owen J. Roberts) started the contest. The senior shutout her opponent, making four saves to keep Juniata in the game long enough to tie the score and eventually take the lead. The Eagles scored three unanswered goals to extend their winning streak. Juniata traveled to Moravian on Saturday for Landmark conference play. Jones had two saves in 47:33 minutes in the cage and earned the win as Juniata won its eighth straight contest to remain undefeated in conference play. The keeper is now 6-1 on the season.

Juniata is 10-2 overall, 3-0 in the Landmark and will return home to host Elizabethtown on Saturday after the Eagles' football contest with Ursinus. Game time is currently scheduled for 4 pm.
