TOWSON, Md. – Juniata College field hockey is now tied for first place in the Landmark Conference after taking down Goucher College 3-0 Saturday afternoon.  The win was the Eagles second straight shutout and kept them undefeated in league play.  Juniata is now 7-7 overall and 3-0 in the conference.  The Gophers are 3-9, 0-3 Landmark.

"It's great to be 3-0 in the conference," said head coach Caroline Gillich.  "We have three more conference Saturday's left. Those last three games become more and more of a battle."

Senior Emma Dahmus (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) led with a game-high three points, spending the full 70 minutes on the field.  After assisting on the Eagles second goal in the first half, she closed out scoring on a solo take halfway through the second half.  It marked her seventh goal of the season.  She leads the team in goals and points and ranks fifth in the Landmark for goals.

Fellow senior Liz Slimak (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) opened scoring in the contest.  She finished on a cross from sophomore Sarah Bilheimer (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) in the 11th minute.  It was her second goal of the season and second game winner.  Sophomore Steph Pagliaro (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) earned her fourth goal of the season.  She took a pass from Dahmus down by the keeper and punched it in.

Juniata has a four-game home stretch coming up as they head deeper into conference play. The Eagles start by working to build awareness for Pancreatic Cancer as they host Washington & Jefferson Tuesday, Oct. 15 and Moravian College on Saturday, Oct. 19. They will wear purple during both games next week.  The matchup with Moravian is the Eagles senior day.  They will honor Dahmus, Slimak and Morgan Slovin (Hockessin, Del./Charter School).
