BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Juniata College field hockey (6-5, 1-2 Landmark) could not hold onto its first half lead and fell to Moravian College, 2-1, on the road Saturday afternoon.
Juniata scored first in the 15th minute. Freshman Steph Pagliaro (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) sent a cross pass to fellow freshman Sara Bilheimer (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) in the circle. The goal was Bilheimer's third of the year and Pagliaro's second assist.
The Eagles went into the break with the 1-0 lead having outshot the Greyhounds 7-3. Moravian tied the score 12 minutes into the second half off a corner.
Keriann Badessa earned her third goal of the season on a pass from Catherine Duffin. Badessa then scored the game winner on another Greyhound corner at the 54:25 mark again from Duffin.
Moravian (4-6, 1-3 Landmark) kicked up its defense in the second half, holding the Eagles to zero shots to earn the win.
Juniata is halfway through a road trip and will face Wesley on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. The programs have been competing since 2008 with the Eagles leading the all-time series 3-1.
