Field hockey’s McGlone, Dahmus and Amrod named to All-Landmark teams

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Three members of the Juniata College field hockey team were named to the 2011 All-Landmark Conference field hockey teams, released Friday.

Senior midfielder Meghan McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) earned first team honors for the fourth time, while sophomore midfielder Emma Dahmus (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and senior forward Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) were deemed second team selections.

McGlone shifted from defense to midfield this season and has accumulated 10 points with three goals and four assists. Not only have two of her goals been game winners, but she has also proved to be indispensible for the Juniata defense as she leads the squad in defensive saves with three, including one during the Eagles' Landmark Semifinals match against Catholic University of America. Last season, McGlone was named to the 2010 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III South Atlantic Region and All-American Second Team.

Amrod, another 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA DIII South Atlantic Region selection and only the third player in Juniata history to have earned 100 points in their career, has six goals and that same amount of assists on the season. Her offensive efforts gives her a team-high 18 points this season, while also landing her on an All-Landmark team for the third time in her collegiate campaign.

Dahmus, a first-time honoree, has logged one goal and five assists so far in the 2011 season as she has held down the Juniata midfield. Her lone goal of the season came in the Eagles' 3-1 loss to the University of Scranton in their last regular season Landmark Conference contest. Dahmus' goal was assisted by Amrod, who earned her 100th career point with that assist. Dahmus leads the team this season in shots fired with 52.

The Eagles currently hold a 10-8 overall record, and went .500 in the Landmark Conference (3-3). They closed their Landmark Championship run on Tuesday, Nov. 2, in a 2-1 OT loss to Catholic in the semifinals. Juniata is waiting to see if post-season play will continue with the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Tournament, to be released on Monday, Nov. 7.
