BALTIMORE, Md.-  The Juniata football had a tough go of it down in Baltimore, falling to Johns Hopkins 57-14, Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field. 

Austin Montgomery (Bedford, Pa./Bedford Area HS) was 24-32 for 297 yards and two touchdowns and Justin Helsel (Martinsburg, Pa./Central) had eight catches, 152 yards and a touchdown. Jake Notestine (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin HS) had four catches for 54 yards and a score. On the defensive side of the ball, Peyton Edwards (State College, Pa./State College Area HS) had a team high 10 tackles including six solo tackles. Scott Copper (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) had eight tackles, including 0.5 TFL and a forced fumble. Ben Gemballa (Apollo, Pa./Apollo Ridge HS) had a sack, two TFL's and two forced fumbles.

Johns Hopkins jumped on Juniata early, as the Blue Jays took a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter after the Eagles turned the ball over three times in the period. The Eagle defense did force a turnover over of their own in the quarter when Cooper forced the Johns Hopkins tight end to fumble, and Aldo Legge (Aliquippa, Pa./Central Valley HS).

After the teams exchanged punts a few times, the Blue Jays took over from their own 10. After two short gains they broke an 83-yard touchdown to push their lead to 21. On their next drive, after forcing the Eagles to punt, Johns Hopkins scored on the first play via a 59-yard touchdown strike. Juniata turned the ball over on another fumble, but the Eagle defense managed to force a punt. The Eagle defense did manage to force the Blue Jay offense to punt, but on the following drive Johns Hopkins managed a field goal to push their lead to 30-0.

The Blue Jays opened the third quarter on a three play drive that ended with a 25-yard touchdown pass. Later, from their own 48, the Eagle offense started to get moving. Montgomery ran for nine yards, five yards and hit Helsel for a gain of 16. Montgomery hit Helsel again this time a fade into the right corner. The Blue Jays turned round went on a 10-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a one-yard run to make it 44-7. Juniata took over at their own 24. Calvin Bembry ran for seven yards, Montgomery ran twice for five yards before he hit Notestine for a 13-yard touchdown to make it 44-14. Johns Hopkins struck again, kicking a field goal from the Juniata three to make it 51-14. 

The Blue Jays added one more touchdown with 3:29 left in the game on a 12-yard touchdown run to close the scoring.
