HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata football team announced its captains for the 2017 season. They are incoming seniors Aldo Legge (Aliquippa, Pa./Central Valley), Colton Craig (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County), Matt Lehr (Dover, Pa./York Catholic), and John Michael Maclay (Belleville, Pa./Mifflin County).

"I think the team did a very good job in selecting four young men who played a good deal of football," said head coach Tim Launtz. "They exemplify everything about being a Juniata man."

Legge is coming off a career season for the Eagles last year. He started all 10 games and tallied 25 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two pass breakups. "Aldo's energy engages the hearts and minds of his teammates," Launtz stated.

Craig started every game at right guard in 2016. He was named an Honorable Mention by the Centennial Conference. "Colton Craig is one of the best offensive lineman in the Centennial Conference," Launtz said. "Anytime you have a young man with his experience and the way he plays as one of the leaders on your football team, it makes everyone around him better."

Lehr played in eight games and started five of them. He rushed 109 times for 555 yards and scored six times with three of those touchdowns coming against Moravian. He had three 100-yard rushing games with a career-best 28 carries for 177 yards against Ursinus that earned him an Honorable Mention from the Eastern Football Network.

"Matt is such a hard worker," Launtz noted. "Matt is someone who is very humble and hungry. I don't think Matt is the person that allows his best to be the best. Because of that, he will be an exceptional leader for this football team."

Maclay finished fourth on the Eagles in total tackles with 51. He also picked off one pass, broke up four others, and was a factor on special teams with two blocked kicks.

"John Michael is a very positive, accountable, and responsible individual," remarked Launtz. "He lets his play on the field and his achievements in the classroom serve as his example to his teammates. We feel that John Michael will bring very high standards to this football team."
