Reighard Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas- The College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) announced its Academic All-America Division III Football Team on Tuesday. Juniata sophomore defensive back Joel Reighard (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area HS) was selected to the Second Team and was one of 49 players from all of Division III to be named overall. He is the first Eagle since both Matt Carver and Patrick Brown were named to the First Team in 2004 and is the seventh overall in team history.

 

Academically, Reighard has a 3.90 cumulative GPA. His POE is Biology. Earlier this month, he was named to Centennial Conference Honor Roll. He has been a member of Caring for Kids with Cancer and a Special Olympics volunteer. Reighard is also a tutor for managerial and financial accounting.

 

On the field, Reighard led the Eagles in interceptions with six, was second in the Centennial, and ranked 11th in all of Division III in interceptions per game. He returned a pick 36 yards for a touchdown against Muhlenberg on October 22. He was twice named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Reighard finished third on the team in total tackles with 52 and also had four pass breakups.
