Reighard Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced their 2016 Academic All-District™ Football Teams on Thursday which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Sophomore defensive back Joel Reighard (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area HS) was one of four defensive backs in Division III in Pennsylvania to be named to the First Team.

 

Academically, Reighard has a 3.90 cumulative GPA. His POE is Biology. He has been a member of Caring for Kids with Cancer and a Special Olympics volunteer. Reighard is also a tutor for managerial and financial accounting.

 

On the field, Reighard leads the Eagles in interceptions with six and ranks fourth in NCAA Division III in interceptions per game. He returned a pick 36 yards for a touchdown against Muhlenberg on October 22. Reighard is third on the team in total tackles with 46 and also has three pass breakups.

 

All First Team Academic All-District honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballots, where first-, second- and third-team All-America selections take place. The Academic All-America teams will be selected by vote of the Academic All-America® committee and CoSIDA Board of Directors, with the football AAA teams announced November 28-December 1 and the women's volleyball selections announced December 5-8.
