Football Travels To Baltimore For Clash with #8/9 Johns Hopkins

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Coming off its first loss of the season last week, the Juniata football team regroups and hopes to enter its bye week on a positive note as the Eagles face #8/9 Johns Hopkins this Saturday. Kickoff from Homewood Stadium is set for 12:00 p.m.

 

Franklin and Marshall came to Huntingdon a week ago and ran for 289 yards on its way to a 45-22 win over the Eagles. Juniata trailed 24-14 late in the third quarter but the Diplomats scored twice within five minutes in the fourth and added a defensive touchdown late in the game to come out with the victory. David Vidovic led in rushing with 84 yards. Kirby Breault had his fourth straight 100-yard receiving performance with nine catches for 130 yards and a touchdown reception. AJ Brocato grabbed four passes for 42 yards as did Jake Notestine for 31 yards. Mitchell Shober led the defense with 14 tackles.

 

The Blue Jays are 4-0 and defeated Muhlenberg 30-24 last Saturday. Blue Jay safety Jack Toner picked off two Mules passes in the end zone on Muhlenberg's last two possessions of the game to seal the win. On the defensive side for Johns Hopkins, the top three tacklers were Garrett Spek (16 tackles, two sacks, one pass breakup), Jack Campbell (14 tackles, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble) and Dan Johnson (12 tackles, one sack). Quarterback Jon Germano was 23-of-42 for 332 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and added 28 yards rushing. Brett Caggiano (5-155-1) and Bradley Munday (9-103-0) both topped 100 yards receiving and Ryan Cary rushed 26 times for 100 yards and one score.

 

Juniata and Johns Hopkins will be playing for the 10th time with the Blue Jays holding an 8-1 advantage in the series. Hopkins has won every game since 2007. Juniata's lone victory occurred in 1929 in Baltimore 7-0.
