Juniata Football Names 2016 Captains

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata football team recently announced its captains for the 2016 season. They are seniors Ryan Bologa (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone), Kirby Breault (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown Area), Jake Diviney (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area), and Josh Kutz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area).

"I thought the team did an outstanding job in selecting four Juniata men that are committed to the core values and culture of Juniata and the Juniata football program said head coach Tim Launtz. "The four captains are Juniata men of great passion and energy. They realize nothing can be achieved without passion and energy. They understand that everything must be earned. Their passion will serve to energize the performance of their teammates."

Breault was a Centennial Conference Second Team selection in 2015 and had a career season for the Eagles. He was the team's leading receiver with 46 receptions for 691 yards. He scored six touchdowns, which also led the team. Breault's best performance came against Gettysburg on September 19. In that game, he caught 13 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns in the 30-25 loss. The 13 catches were the most by a Juniata player in 12 years.

Breault also ran 22 times for 110 yards, which was a career-best. He was a factor on special teams with 13 kick returns for 253 yards and 16 punt returns for 135 yards and a touchdown.

"He is the complete package and everything in his game is solid, said Launtz. "He is an outstanding wide receiver."

Bologa led Juniata in total tackles last season with 82. He scored his first career touchdown on a fumble recovery in the Eagles' 26-13 season-opening win over Grove City. "He is tough as nails," noted Launtz. "He is the quarterback with the defense and understands it as well as anybody. Ryan has shown he makes big plays when they need to be made."

Diviney was fourth in tackles with 57. He had three pass breakups and also blocked a field goal. Diviney has been named to the Centennial Academic Honor Roll for the past two seasons. "He is the consummate team guy," stated Launtz. "We asked Jake to change positions after he had been here for a year or so moving from safety to linebacker. He never complained. He leads with optimism and leads by example and that's very important."

Kutz started every game at right tackle in 2016. He has started every game for the Eagles for the past two years. "Josh Kutz is another one of those guys that has shown the ability to connect with teammates, to work hard, and to understand that hard work is what's needed and that everything is earned," Launtz noted. "He has great intensity and that will serve him well in his new role."

Juniata opens the 2016 season on September 3 at Grove City. The home opener is September 10 against Dickinson.
