Four Eagles Receive Honorable Mentions from USA College Football

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- For the second straight week, a quartet of Juniata football players have been recognized by USA College Football. Running backs Deonte Alston (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) and Matt Lehr (Dover Pa./York Catholic) linebacker Jonah Plymire (York, Pa./Central York) and long snapper Anthony Popolo (Ramsey N.J./Ramsey) all received Honorable Mentions.

 

Lehr ran 18 times for a season-high 87 yards and added a score for the Eagles as they defeated McDaniel College 20-7 on Saturday. On Juniata's final scoring drive, he ran nine times for 46 yards and a two-yard touchdown.

 

Alston had a season-high in carries with 23 and totaled 70 yards while scoring twice. Six of his carries went for first downs. He also added a 34-yard reception.

 

Plymire tallied six tackles. One of his stops went for a loss and he also recovered a fumble.

 

Popolo was perfect on his long snaps. He also had a fumble recovery that eventually led to a Juniata touchdown.
