Four Juniata Players Receive Honorable Mentions from USA College Football

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- On Wednesday, USA College Football announced its weekly honors. Quarterback Hank Coyne (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford HS), receivers Aaron O'Brien (York, Pa./York Catholic) and Kirby Breault (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown), and linebacker Jonah Plymire (York, Pa/Central York) all received Honorable Mentions for their performances on Saturday against Muhlenberg.

 

Coyne had a career day as the Eagles nearly pulled an upset over the Mules. He completed 28 of 45 passes for 311 yards and five touchdowns as Muhlenberg won in double OT, 41-35. His touchdown throws covered six, 63, 14, 28, and 23 yards. His 23-yard score came on a fourth down as the Eagles tied the game 35-35 in the first overtime period. The 62.2% completion rate is a season- and career-best along with the 28 pass completions. He was only sacked once all afternoon.

 

O'Brien followed his strong performance from the prior week with an even better showing. He caught nine passes for 141 yards and three touchdowns. His touchdowns spanned 63, 14, and 28 yards. His 63-yarder was a catch and run as he outpaced several Mule defenders.

 

Breault caught 10 passes for 117 yards and two scores for Juniata He had the first score of the day on a six-yard reception and scored the final Eagles touchdown on a fourth down in the first overtime that spanned 23 yards. Six of his catches went for first downs. He also ran four times for 31 yards. His 18-yard scamper was his longest of the day that went for a first down.

 

Plymire totaled seven tackles including three that went for total losses of 14 yards. His pass breakup on a third and goal forced the Mules to kick a field goal, which they missed. His sack of Mule QB Nick Palladino on a third and ten went for a loss of 10 yards and forced a punt.
