HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The 93rd season of Juniata football begins this Saturday when the Eagles host Grove City at Knox Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.

The Blue and Gold are coming off a 5-5 season last year and posted back to back .500 or better seasons for the first time since 2001-2002. "Our guys have worked very hard through the winter, spring, and summer seasons because they weren't satisfied with five wins," states head coach Tim Launtz. "They believe that they are better than a .500 football team and that .500 is not where we want to be."

For the first time in five years, there will be a new quarterback under center for the Eagles. Junior Hank Coyne (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford Sr. HS) will making his first career start and Launtz believes that he is ready to take on the challenge. "Hank has been patient for the last two years being the backup," Launtz said. "We have no concerns whatsoever with Hank being our opening day quarterback."

The Eagles and Wolverines will be playing each other for the 15th time in a series that goes back to 1927. The Eagles lead the series 11-2-1. JC won in Grove City last year, 20-13. The two teams last played in Huntingdon in 1972 where Juniata won in blowout, 55-6.
