HUNTINGDON, PA- Last Thursday, Juniata senior quarterback Ward Udinski (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) was honored along with 21 other players who were named to the Allstate/AFCA Goodworks Team at halftime of the 2015 College Football Semifinal between Ohio State and Alabama at the Allstate® Sugar Bowl. The 22 players represented the Bowl Subdivision, Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III, and NAIA.

Udinski was named to the team in September. He and his fellow award recipients were invited to New Orleans to take part in a community project leading up to the game.

Since the age of 10, Udinski has volunteered with the Lenape Valley Youth Organization. He has done everything from equipment maintenance and distribution, registration assistance, and field maintenance work. Ward has also run the snack bar for these organizations, including setting up, selling the food, and keeping track of all the money. He has officiated all of the flag football games for 5 years.

Ward has helped run the C. B. West Youth Football Camps for the last 5 years. He has also served as the Youth Camp Administrator where he has helped run registration and organize over ten different camps of between 100 and 150 youth football players. At all of these camps, Ward designated teams and designed drills, games, and activities for the campers. He also helped coach and play with the kids throughout the camp. All of the money raised at these camps goes towards the high school football organization that he previously played for, C. B. West.

Throughout middle school and high school, Ward worked with students with learning disabilities. He would meet with these kids during his free time at school and take them to play games and hangout. Ward used to play cards, board games, and a lot of basketball.

For more than two decades the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® has been one of the most esteemed awards in college sports. This past summer, the program received a record 182 nominations from colleges and universities across the country. A voting panel comprised of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® members and college football media reviewed the nominees in an effort to select 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA to comprise the 22-player team.

The Allstate AFCA Good Works Teams® were established in 1992 by the College Football Association, recognizing the extra efforts made by college football players and student support staff off the field.  AFCA became the governing body of the award in 1997 and continues to honor college football players who go the extra mile for those in need.  Allstate worked to present the award starting with the 2008 season.
