Eagles Travel to Gettysburg For Centennial Conference Battle

HUNTINGDON, PA- The Juniata football team will take its 2-0 record on the road for a Centennial Conference matchup with Gettysburg College on Saturday. Kickoff from Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium will be at 1 p.m.

 

The Eagles hosted Dickinson last Saturday in the Centennial Conference opener for both schools. Juniata took down the Red Devils in an offensive shootout, 38-35. Quarterback Ward Udinski (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) had a big day on the ground and in the air. He completed 16 of 28 passes for 249 yards and threw for two touchdowns while totaling 152 yards rushing and three touchdowns. His 10-yard touchdown run with 4:01 left to play in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner. On the defensive side, Ethan Wilt (Altoona, PA/Altoona Area) totaled 11 tackles with Ryan Bologa (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) adding 10.5. Demetrius Floyd (Coraopolis, PA/W. Alleghany) chipped in 7.5 while Kweku Parker (York, PA/Central York) had six tackles and two sacks.

 

As for the Bullets, they enter the game at 0-2. Fred Caruso rushed for a career-high 101 yards on just 11 carries, but Gettysburg lost by a 31-14 count at Ursinus College in its Centennial Conference opener. The Bears never trailed after outscoring the Bullets 17-0 in the first quarter. Gettysburg outgained Ursinus 341-227 but was hurt by five turnovers that led to 14 points, including an interception return for a touchdown.

 

Last year in Huntingdon, the Eagles snapped Gettysburg's seven-game winning streak in the series with a 38-16 victory. It was Juniata's first win over the Bullets since 1979 and the first time at home since 1976.
