HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Three Juniata College football student-athletes recently earned membership to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.  The organization recognizes football student-athletes from every division who have maintained a 3.2 cumulative GPA while being a starter in their last year of eligibility.

Seniors Brandon Felus (Columbia, Pa./Columbia), Zach McCaulley (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood-Antis), and Jared Shope (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) excelled not only in the classroom but on the gridiron to earn the honor.

"Brandon, Jared, and Zach understand that college is work and that it takes responsibility and accountability," said head coach Tim Launtz.  "By being diligent in the classroom and on the field, they made the most of their opportunities, resulting in a meaningful, rewarding, productive college experience."

It is the eighth year of the honor society and according to NFF's president and CEO Steve Hatchell, "the Hampshire Honor Society plays an important role in highlighting that college football players clearly play a leadership role in the classroom as well as on the playing field."

The NFF has honored nearly 5,000 student-athletes since it began in 2007.  This year 838 players from over 250 schools qualified for membership, shattering the previous record of 117.
