Juniata Football Places Two on MAC All-Century Team

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) named Juniata football alums Dennis DeRenzo ('91) and Brian Giachetti ('92) to the 1983-1992 All-Century Team in honor of the MAC's 100-year anniversary.

Both DeRenzo and Giachetti are members of the Juniata Sports Hall of Fame.  DeRenzo was inducted in 2002, while Giachetti was a member of the 2003 class, respectively.

Setting numerous records from 1987-1990, DeRenzo was named to the MAC all-star academic team twice as a running back and once as a punter.  He earned the prestigious Stanford Mickle Award for his achievements on the field during his senior year and was also the club's most valuable back.  At the time of his induction, he was third all-time at Juniata in scoring with 250 total points.

Giachetti, a two-time All-American, was a three-year starter and a two-time MAC first-team all-star at cornerback.  He also earned the Stanford Mickle Award his senior year and was named most outstanding back. He spent two years on the track and field team at Juniata where he earned two more varsity letters during his college career.  At the time of his induction, he was seventh all-time in interceptions and tied for fifth on the single-season interceptions list.  After graduation, Giachetti went on to play for Toronto in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and also competed in the Indoor Football League and with the semi-professional Pittsburgh Colts.
