BALTIMORE, Md. – Juniata College football (1-4, 0-4 Centennial) scored first against No. 15 Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Saturday afternoon, but could not fend off the top ranked team. Undefeated JHU (5-0, 4-0) downed the Eagles 40-20 in Baltimore, Md. to continue their streak.
Sophomore Ward Udinski (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) threw for two touchdowns and 222 yards.
Senior Scott Andrews (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Altoona Area) opened scoring in the first quarter with a 32-yard field goal. He finished with eight points.
Juniata's defense held JHU scoreless for nearly 20 minutes before the Blue Jay's quarterback Robbie Matey hit Scott Cremens for a 40-yard touchdown pass.
Freshman Jordan Shroyer (Hollsopple, Pa./Conemaugh Township) jumpstarted the Eagles offense with a 47-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter. Udinski took the baton and got the Eagles in the end zone on a 19-yard pass to senior Julian Valdiserri (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon)
With 5:05 remaining in the game, Udinski took Juniata to the end zone again in 54 seconds for the final touchdown of the day. He found senior Dominic Bornman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) 27 yards out for his fifth touchdown pass of the season. Both touchdown passes were the first of the year for each receiver.
Juniata takes a bye next week, returning to competition on Oct. 13 for the Homecoming Game against Ursinus. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
