Rangers Prevent Sweep, Edge Eagles

MADISON, NJ- The Juniata baseball team couldn't complete the sweep as they lost at Drew, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Doc Young Field. The Eagles did win the series as they took two off the Rangers yesterday.

Evan Mock (McVeytown, Pa. / Mifflin County) started the game with a walk, and Dakotah Snyder (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg) followed with a single to right as Mock went from first to third. Two batters later, Jake Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage) reached on a fielder's choice while Mock crossed the plate.

The Eagles led through five innings, but the Rangers managed to get on the board in the sixth. A single and two wild pitches put a runner on third with two outs. A double down the left-field line and a single up the middle put two runs on up for the Rangers.

An RBI double in the eighth provided an insurance run for Drew, but the Eagles couldn't get much going in the ninth, as the game ended on a double play.

Drew Westover (Burnham, Pa. / Mifflin County) started on the hill for the Eagles, going six innings while allowing six hits, and two runs while striking out three.

The Eagles will play at Wilson on Wednesday in their final non-conference doubleheader of the season. The first pitch is at 1:00.
