Moravian Rallies Late to Edge Eagles

Sam Craig went 3-4 with a double, a home run and two runs scored on Sunday against Moravian.

HUNTINGDON, Pa.-The Juniata baseball team took a one-run lead into the ninth, but the Greyhounds responded as they came back to win 11-6, Sunday afternoon on a wet and cloudy day at Langdon-Goodale Field.

A sacrifice fly and an RBI-single to left center put Moravian ahead 2-0 by the end of the first inning. They added two more in the third to double their lead.   

The pitchers traded zeros in the fourth and the fifth inning before Juniata got on the board in the sixth. Larry Corle (Martinsburg, Pa. / Central High School) lined a double down the left field line and advanced to third on Adam Kipp's (Mt. Wolf, Pa. / Northeastern) flyout to center. Isaac Maclay (Belleville, Pa. / Mifflin County High School) smacked a double to left to plate Corle. 

The Greyhounds scored again on an RBI-double down the leftfield line, but the Eagles responded in the bottom half of the seventh.  

Ryan McClain (Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville) led up with a single up the middle and Sam Craig (Mullicahill, N.J. / Kingsway Regional) doubled to right. Two batters later Devyn Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) flew out to right. McClain scored from third while Craig got to third before scoring on an error by the catcher. Corle walked, Kipp singled up the middle and Maclay singled to left to plate Corle. Kipp scored on Jake Swank's (Portage, Pa. / Portage) ensuing single to left. The teams were tied 5-5 after seven.

Craig's solo homer in the eighth put the Eagles ahead 6-5 before Moravian exploded for six in the ninth to take the final game of the series, 11-6.  

Juniata will host Gettysburg, tomorrow at 4:00.
