Blue Jays Rally Late to Edge Eagles

Adam Kipp
Adam Kipp went 4-5 with a double, a triple, two RBI and a run scored at Elizabethtown.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-The Juniata baseball team couldn't counter a late four-run flurry at Elizabethtown as the Blue Jays came back to win, 9-6, Sunday afternoon in the final game of the weekend series at Boyd Stadium.

Just like both games yesterday, the Eagles struck first. In the top of the Adam Kipp (Mt. Wolf, Pa. / Northeastern) smacked a double down the right field line and Isaac Maclay (Belleville, Pa. / Mifflin County High School) lined a single to left to score Kipp. The Blue Jays took the lead in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run single to left center.

A three-run bomb to right put the Eagles in a 4-1 hole through two innings.

In the top of the fourth, Colton Kubicki (York, Pa. / West York) singled up with the middle and stole second. He went on to score on William Duffy's (Bronx, N.Y. / Fordham Prep/Clark University) RBI-single up the middle.

A big sixth inning catapulted the Eagles ahead.

Hunter Price (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) led off with another single up the middle and got to second on a wild pitch. He advanced to third on a Ryan McClain's (Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville) fly out to third. Kubicki was hit by a pitch and two batters later Devyn Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) singled to left to scored Price. Larry Corle (Martinsburg, Pa. / Central High School) followed by smacking an RBI-single to right center to score Kubicki. Kipp's triple to right center plated Corle and Carper to make it 6-5 Eagles.

A wild eighth inning saw the Blue Jays score four runs on two hits as Juniata committed three errors. Juniata couldn't come back as the Blue Jays held on for the 9-6 win.

The Eagles return to action Tuesday at Penn State Mount Alto. First pitch at 3:00.
