AUBURNDALE, FL-The Juniata baseball team won easily against Colby Sawyer, 13-0, Friday morning at Lake Myrtle Stadium.

Gavin Grimaldi (Clymer, Pa. / Penns Manor) tossed six innings while only allowing two hits and striking out eight to earn his first win of the year.

The pitchers matched zeros in the first two innings. Grimaldi really started to find his groove in the third as he struck out the side, and in the bottom half of the inning the Eagles started to provide him with runs.

With one out, Sam Craig (Mullicahill, N.J. / Kingsway Regional) smacked a single to right, Devyn Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) walked and Larry Corle (Martinsburg, Pa. / Central High School) walked to load the bases. Adam Kipp (Mt. Wolf, Pa. / Northeastern) walked to score the first run. Two batters later, Jake Swank (Portage, Pa. / Portage) singled to left scored Kipp and Corle as the Eagles led 3-0 after one.

The bottom of the fourth saw the Eagles add to their lead. Hunter Price (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) led off with a single and Carper sent him from first to third with his two-out single to center. Carper stole second before Corle singled to score price. Kipp put an exclamation point on the inning with a three-run blast as the Eagles pushed their lead to seven.

The sixth inning saw Juniata pile on six more runs. Matt Innella (Commack, N.Y. / Commack) and Isaac Maclay (Belleville, Pa. / Mifflin County High School) both had two-run singles while Price and Innella each scored on wild pitches.

JC will wrap up their Florida trip against Central (Iowa), tomorrow at 11:00.
